In Memoriam

"Angelus!!"

I gave my final blessing. I know I will never make it out of this place anyway. My bodys too weak to move. My brain is already half-dead, and I can only recall flashes of what happened to us.

I shift my weakening gaze and I see his face. Hes crying bitterly, telling me to fightto never give up. We were just steps away from the exitand from hope.

He tries in vain to shake me awake. I must have been falling asleep already. No, dear friend and companion, you cant do anything now. Its too late. Go save yourself. Leave me here to die

He objects. Hes badly injured, yes, but he never fails to amaze me. He still managed to bring me here, to the door, the only way out. No, dear friend, this is all I can reach. My life is coming to an end.

"Isidore, dont give up! Youll live, Isidore, youll live! Dont leave me! Dont die, please, dont die! Dont leave me! Dont die! I beg you!"

Dear companion, it is no use. I am going home now, and you cant stop me. My time here is over; my mission is done. Take care of yourself, dear companion. I fear for your future, even now I can see how dark and bleak it will be. But never lose hope, dear friend. God is always with you. He never abandons His children.

I see the familiar tunnel of light. There will be no turning back now. Once again memories flash, as if bidding me to never forget my mortal life.

They flash by, vivid and sharp as photographs.

Can you see them too?.
